Glam Decor Around the Farmhouse

Hey y’all! I love to decorate! I could spend days in Hobby Lobby or At Home. And Kirklands just makes me smile! I thought I would share just a couple of fun new things I’ve picked up lately to beautify our home. Up top is my fun little pedestal I put by my kitchen sink. I got it from Hobby Lobby. Of course, I don’t buy anything from there if it’s not at least 40% off! The cute little pumpkin soap dispenser was two bucks at Family Dollar! I hardly ever go there and I was just tickled when I found that cute little guy! The flowers are from Aldi… that I bought myself, because I felt like it! Haha!

This cute little container is for puppy treats! I’m pretty sure I picked it up at Tractor Supply. Surprisingly, Tractor Supply has some cute home decor, not a ton, but it’s usually really cute! Oh, and it was on clearance!

Then the final thing I want to show you is Betsy! Betsy probably isn’t for everyone but she sure makes me happy! I love all the colors and the textures! My girls and I were at Kirklands having a look around, taking silly snap chats of ourselves,  and there was this one filter that was super crazy colors and looked a lot like Betsy here. Well that did it! I took a picture with the snap chat filter next to Betsy and fell in love with her! I wish I still had that picture! I really feel like the things in your home should make you feel happy and be a reflection of you and I’d like to think these all reflect me a little bit.

Love ya,

Hello From Tattletail Farm

Hello peeps!  I have finally decided to start up our little blog again.  I’ve been doing so many fun things here on the farm and decorating our pretty farmhouse!  My friends and fam keep encouraging me to share with y’all, so here we go! My latest project that I’ve worked on turned out so much better than I could have hoped for!  We have this beautiful big front porch and I desperately wanted one of those long antique pews that I’ve seen on other farmhouse blogs and Pinterest! (Love Pinterest!)  But have you seen how much people want to charge for a dusty old pew?  No thank you!  So, I was browsing through the Facebook Marketplace and of course FREE caught my eye!  There was a lady getting rid of an old headboard and a kid’s armoire.  Surprisingly, I was the first to respond!  That never happens!  It was just meant to be!  So I went and picked them up along with a couple other things that were sitting around on her property (The redneck in me couldn’t say no!) and headed home.  Well after lots of research on Pinterest I created this beautiful bench! I am in love!

I think our little barn kitties love it just as much as I do. I used Rustoleum Heirloom White and did a matte protective spray to finish it off after I distressed it.  I think she’s a beauty!  If y’all would like me to do a tutorial, let me know.  It looks intimidating but it really wasn’t that hard.  I’m excited to share my crazy projects and all the chaos that is our farm.

Love ya,

Amber

P.S. Here she is all dressed up for Halloween!

Introducing Farmhouse Chic!

One of my favorite hobbies is refinishing furniture.  Just about every piece of furniture in our home has been repainted or refurbished in some way by me.  I love how every piece has a story.  I wish that I could sit down with them and just listen to where they’ve been and what they’ve seen.  We have an old antique piano that is over a hundred years old!  Think of all the music and joy it has brought over the years!  Cody’s sweet Grandma has given me several things that I just cherish!  An old tea set from when she was a girl, quilts that her mother made from her dresses growing up, and a set of dining room chairs that have been repainted at least eight times!  (I counted when I stripped them down and repainted them!)

Well every time I refinish a piece my family and friends always say that I should go into business.  I’ve always kind of shrugged it off and said “…maybe one day.”  Well, I guess “one day”  is here!  I’ve decided to start with a couple of pieces and post them on facebook and see what happens.  I will probably post some things on KSL ( a local classifieds section online).  I’ve even talked to a consignment shop in Gardener Village that has a darling little place that is interested in my furniture.  It would be so fun to have my stuff there but they take a huge chunk of the sale.  So I will try to do it on my own first and see what happens.

I’m hoping that some people will like what I do and maybe have me refinish some things for them! I’ve already had one person ask about a bid!  So fun!  I think this little side job will be a fun creative outlet and I’m excited to start experimenting with paint!  There are a bunch of things I’ve wanted to try but my house can only hold so much stuff!  So bring on the paint!

Here are some fun pieces that I’ve done around our little homestead.
